One key to solve the long-term problem of tile paving | Farewell to hollowing and brick dropping is so simple
Nov 22,2023
With the application of large rock plates in the decoration of family rooms becoming more and more extensive, the paving method is also more and more advanced from the earliest appearance of cement mortar or fast-sticking powder point sticking, to the use of on-site mixing cement mortar on the back of bricks after paving on the wall, and now the use of tile glue.
However, why in today's advanced construction technology, there are still often hollowing and falling bricks? The tiles on the wall will have a dull sound when they knock? Also accompanied by the risk of falling off, do you know the reason why these tiles are "disobedient"? Today, let's talk about the things about tile paving and pasting, and decipher the truth of tile hollowing and falling bricks for you.
As the saying goes, in addition to selecting qualified ceramic tile glue and high-quality ceramic tiles, we should also pay attention to avoid several misunderstandings in the use of ceramic tile glue, which will greatly avoid the probability of hollowing and falling bricks.
1, the wall is uneven, unclean
The base layer of the thin wall must be leveled. The base layer of the wall surface is uneven, and too large unevenness will make the contact between the ceramic tile and the wall surface insufficient, resulting in empty drum.
Insufficient strength of the base wall, oil pollution and loose base wall will directly affect the bonding force of the tile adhesive, resulting in hollowing and even falling off.
2, ceramic tile adhesive mixed with cement mortar
There is a ratio of various components in the finished adhesive. Adding materials at will will change the ratio and destroy the stability of the materials. After use, the tiles will be empty and fall off.
3. Use a spade to stir on the ground or in a frying plate
The ceramic tile adhesive has a professional material ratio, which needs to be stirred with a stirrer, which cannot be stirred evenly with a shovel, and the effective components in the ceramic tile adhesive cannot be fully fused. At the same time, it is difficult to grasp the amount of water added by manual spreading, stirring and adding. The material ratio is changed, resulting in a decrease in adhesion.
4, tile adhesive bubble water use
Many workers and masters who have just come into contact with ceramic tile adhesive are still used to the method of soaking cement. They soak the stirred ceramic tile adhesive in a bucket for fear that the material will dry too fast. In fact, doing so will cause the ceramic tile adhesive to absorb too much water, have no strength and powder, and the ceramic tile will easily fall off.
5. After stirring for too long, add water and stir again
After the ceramic tile adhesive is added with water and stirred, the effective components begin to react chemically to generate adhesive force. The reaction time is fixed and will not be prolonged with the addition of water and stirring again. The addition of water and stirring again only changes its form. Such use will cause the ceramic tile to empty and fall off. The adhesive should be stirred as much as possible. The use time after stirring is controlled within 2 hours and discarded after solidification.
6, the wall surface once batch scraping area is too large
The batch scraping area of wall surface adhesive is too large, and tiling after the surface layer is cured will lead to hollow drum and falling off. The wall surface shall be scraped with ceramic tile adhesive about 1 square meter each time, and the wall surface shall be wetted in advance when the wall surface is dry.
7. Uneven scraping of tile adhesive batch
The tile adhesive batch scrapes unevenly, and the tile is not in full contact with the wall surface after tiling, which will lead to insufficient flatness, cracking of the brick surface, porcelain stretching, hollowing and falling off. For bricks of different sizes, different types of tooth-shaped spatula shall be selected according to the guidance of the adhesive manufacturer. When paving, knead and press in place, adjust the flatness, and carry out pointing 24 hours after the paving is completed.
Precautions
Tile adhesive mixing, batch scraping and paving meet the requirements at the same time, to ensure the quality and effect of paving, tile processing is also the key.
We will find that the back of the tile will be white after opening the tile package, and the hands will be stained with a layer of white powder. This is the tile release agent. If the tile is not cleaned, the tile will be hollowed out and fall off.
The main component of the release agent on the back of the brick is magnesium oxide, which has the characteristics of high temperature resistance. At the same time, if this layer of magnesium oxide is not cleaned, it will play the role of isolating adhesive when paving.
How to remove the magnesium oxide at the bottom of the brick embryo?
Before paving, experienced bricklayer will pay attention to see if there is any residual release agent on the back of the brick. If there is, iron brush is generally used to remove the release agent on the back of the brick as much as possible, or wipe it with a clean wet towel.
